Welcome to the Website of award winning fine artist, Heather King; painter of many years experience as both professional artist/illustrator, and well known instructor. Here you will see new oil paintings and watercolor prints that are for sale and auction on ebay, and in her ebay store, Heather King Gallery. You will also find examples of her pet and home portraits, available on commission.

Heather's work has been published and commissioned in the US and Canada, and appeared in galleries in both countries. Collectors of her work appreciate her love of beauty, attention to detail in drawing, composition, design, and beautiful color sense. She believes her work often projects feelings of contented solitude, and always wonders at the grace and elegance in simple things.

Heather's professional illustration assignments have been challenging and varied, ranging from designing labels for Flora Springs and Peju Province wineries in the Napa Valley, to art and design for the gift and paper product industries, children's book illustration, her own greeting card series called "Heather's World", among many... leading to a prestigious portfolio of many publishing and corporate clients, over a period of 30 years. She has had extensive experience teaching art , having done so part-time for 13 years at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, and 21 years at Napa Valley College. Her students have accompanied her on workshops in Nova Scotia, and meet every Wednesday in her Napa Valley studio at Vine Village , a serene and beautiful place surrounded by a brook, pond, willow trees, fruit trees, exotic red dragonflies, a market garden... and yes, vines!

Heather enjoys donating paintings to several local good causes, including Vine Village, The famous annual Napa Valley Wine Auction, where millions are raised for local health institutions; St. John the Baptist Church youth program, Queen of the Valley Hospital, and the Napa Valley Chorale, in which she has served as board member, (and second alto...!) illustrating and designing their concert programs for many years.

Heather's education began at McGill University and the Montreal Museum School of Fine Arts , and was completed at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. She won merit awards and scholarships at both schools, including the Richard Stephens Merit Award for three consecutive years. She studied under Sir Arthur Lismer, one of Canada's renowned "Group of Seven", and Joan Brown, among others...she is influenced also by music, dance, (especially ballet), literature; Michelle Kwan's gentle brilliance in skating!

Artist heroes include Degas and the Impressionists, Fantin le Tour, John Sell Cotman, Winslowe Homer, Thomas Sgouras, and Californians Mark Adams and Wayne Thiebaud. Painting is her great joy, and she is delighted when her work provides pleasure to others.
